HOW TO CREATE BRAIDS THAT TURN HEADS

Braids have well and truly grown-up. No longer just haphazard plaits in the schoolyard, braids have evolved into an urban hair statement, making their way into mainstream styling.

From halo braids through to multi-fairy plaits or a fierce tight, gelled-down whip braid – a 1980’s Sade throwback that’s breaking out for this summer, they’re a way of dishing up cool vibes into your salon.

Chic, laid-back, pulled together or boho, slogan braids are a versatile technique you can adapt dexterous fingers to for creating brilliantly and unique hair ups. They’re also perfect for delivering structured polished looks or introducing soft and loose textures. Far from being an easy and breezy style thrown together, they also work in upping your client’s hair game at weddings, and formal events including graduations or black-tie occasions. Nothing feels or looks better than breaking the hair rules!

Nifty fingers aside, there’s no need to be a mastermind at braiding, it’s easy to createlooks with a classic three strand braid or fishtail. Just use the classic technique to create shape and texture.

Here are a few other brilliant braiding hacks that turn heads:

  • Create detail in long hair. Place a braid into the ponytail or through the side gently pulling the braid apart to loosen and create separation and texture.
  • A super tip for preventing a heavy looking braid is to add ribbons and accessories. For fun stand out braids use fake coloured hair clip-ins. Check out hair inspiration from our Instagram page below:
